Pasitélès
Pasitélès (in Greek old Πασιτέλης / Pasitélês ) is a Greek sculptor of the hellenistic time recent (first century BC).
Its life is badly known. Pline Old the, only source on this subject, indicates that it is born “on Greek banks from Italy”, i.e. in Grande Greece and that it is contemporary of Pompée. It settles with Rome towards 89 av. J. - C. and receives the right of citizenship. Pline allots a statue of to him Zeus silver, realized for quoted of Large Greece, a statue of lion and “many works, which one does not quote the names”: Pline mentions its collection of famous Œuvres ( Opera nobilia ), by the intermediary of which Pline knows work. One counts among his disciples Stéphanos and Ménélaos.
