Description
This broad avenue traces a straight line, cutting the city in diagonal. It was built on the orders of the Maximilien emperor in 1860 and was initially called " The Avenue of Impératrice". Inspired by the grand boulevards European S, the such Fields-Élysées in Paris, it was intended to connect the castle of Chapultepec to the national Palate in the center of the city. It begins with the park from Chapultepec, passes along the Torre Mayor (the most skyscraper of Latin America) and crosses the Zona Rosa and then until Zócalo by the Juárez avenue and the street Francisco I Madero.She is regarded as the most beautiful avenue of Mexico City.
The Mexican version of the Monopoly indicates this street as being one of most expensive.
