The encyclical Pascendi Dominici Gregis is a Encyclique Pape Saint Pie X, published in 1907.
It is subtitled: Encyclical letter of the holy pope Black and white X on the errors of the modernism.
The encyclical thus adopts as of the beginning the modernism term.

Context
At the beginning of the Encyclical , the Pape affirms that It must speak without delay:
- “What requires especially that We speak without delay, it is that the craftsmen of errors, there is not to seek them today among the declared enemies. They hide and it is a subject of apprehension and anguish very sharp, in the center even and in the middle of the Church, enemies all the more frightening as they are it less openly. We speak, Vénérables Brothers, of a great number of catholics Laïque S, and, which is even more to regret, of priests, who, under color of love of the Église, absolutely courts of philosophy and Théologie serious, impregnated on the contrary to marrows of a venom of error drawn at the adversaries of the catholic faith, are posed, to the contempt of any modesty, like renovating of the Church; who, in tightened phalanges, boldly give the attack to all that it moreover crowned there in the work of Jesus-Christ, without respecting her own person, that they lower, by a temerity sacrilege, to the simple one and pure humanity. ”
The Encyclique thus fits in the context of what one usually called the modernistic Crise.
