Parviz Varjavand
Parviz Varjavand پرویزورجاوند born in 1934 and died the June 10th 2007 was a Archéologue Iran considered, enquiring IEN and professor with the Université of Teheran, and a respected political personality, opponent determined with the mode resulting from the Islamic revolution of 1979.
Biography
After having obtained a Mastère in Archeology with the University of Teheran, Parviz Varjavand had come in France, to continue its studies with Paris, the Sorbonne, where it obtained a doctorate in “Restoration of the monuments” and “Iranian Classical architecture. ”
He was the Prime Minister for the Culture in the provisional government of Mehdi Bazargan, formed after the Islamic revolution of 1979. He was member of the party National front . He had become adverse given with the mode of the Ayatollah S with the capacity with Teheran since the Revolution. He was one of the rare opponents to dare to speak against the mode. Thus, he denounced the escape in front of the capacity of Teheran on the nuclear question.
Parviz Varjavand fought for the re-establishment of the Démocratie in Iran. Whereas it was republican, it wrote in an article published in August 2006, as a spokesperson of the National front , as the democracy was compatible as well with a Constitutional monarchy as with a République and than the question should not be to choose between the two modes, but to find the means to restore it. It was the first time that a republican expressed such an opinion in Iran.
Professor Varjavand, in addition, démenait himself much in the field of the cultural heritage, and did not spare its efforts to obtain the classification of Persepolis, the Ziggourat of Chogha zanbil and of the Place Naghsh-e Jahan with Esfahan, on the Liste of the world heritage of UNESCO.
He decided in 2003 in favor of the notation of the Persan in Latin characters using the Convention Dubire.
Parviz Varjavand died of an heart attack the June 10th 2007 at the 73 years age. Its funeral, the June 12th, gathered an huge crowd and collected, which accompanied it to her last residence, in a coffin covered with the national flag related to the shoulders by a group of men, who took turns until the place of the burial.
