Parviz Meshkatian

Parviz Meshkatian پرویزمشکاتیان|Parviz Meshkātiān (born in 1955 with Nichapur) is an Iranian type-setter and a Master of Santour.

Biography

After having learned the rudiments from art with his father Hassan Meshkatian, virtuoso of tar and Santour, it attends the Faculty of the Art schools where its studies of music enable him to attend famous Masters (Mirza Abdollah, Nur Ali Borumand, Dr. Dariush Safvat, Abdollah Khan Davami) auprès from which it learns the traditional repertory (the Radif) from the Santour and of the Setar.

Parviz Meshkatian was professor of Santour in the Center of Safeguarding and Propagation of the Traditional Music Persian, with Teheran, before taking part in the Radio and Iranian Television.

Since 1977, he teaches the music freely and accompanies, with his Ensemble Aref, the largest singers, in particular Mohammad Reza Shadjarian. He also founded the Ensemble Sheyda

In 1982, it published 20 parts for santour . Since, he teaches the music at the University of Teheran.
