Party of the confederation

The Parti the confederation ( Confederation Party ) was the name of the political parties to the New Brunswick, in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland which supported the Canadian Confédération in the Années 1860 when the policy in these colonies was polarized between the partisans and the opponents of the confederation. The parties of the confederation were opposed by the parties anti-confederation in these three colonies.

In New Brunswick and in Nova Scotia, the parties of the confederation became the Conservative parties affiliated to the Parti federal liberal-conservative to sir John A. Macdonald (which one called simply the conservatives), while the parties anti-confederation became the liberal parties. This constituted an approximate re-establishment of the political dichotomy which existed before the confederation, although, because of the realignment, certain former liberals became preserving and vice versa.
