Party of the Algerian people
The Parti the Algerian People (or PPP) was founded the March 11th 1937 by Messali Hadj in France after the prohibition of the North-African Star (ENA) by the Popular front with the capacity at the time. This new party maintained the direction, the structures and the objectives of the ENA.
The PPP was interdict in its turn in 1939 and twenty-eight of its stopped persons in charge on October 4th. There will remain made up in clandestinity. May 1st 1945, the PPP prohibited made ravel 20.000 Moslem demonstrators with Algiers. The party undergoes the repression which will follow the Massacre of Sétif in 1945. In 1946, Messali Hadj was released. It created the Mouvement for the triumph of the democratic liberties (MTLD) whose function was to ensure a legal existence the PPP.
