Party of solidarity sénégalaise

The Parti solidarity sénégalaise (PS) is an old political party Senegal board.

History

Created in 1958, the PS brings together Europeans and some chiefs ic Islam. In answer to the project of constitution proposed by the General de Gaulle within the framework of the referendum of September 28th, 1958, they claim for Senegal a statute of French Département of overseas, but their sympathizers are very few. The " oui" carries to 97,2%.

Vis-a-vis the domination of the Union progressist sénégalaise (UPS) the PS is one of the small formations which take part in the legislative elections of March 22nd, 1959, but, like the two others, the Parti the African regrouping (PRA) and the African Parti independence (FEEDS), does not gain any seat. The three parties try without success to be linked. Several personalities of the PS then join the UPS and the party disappears gradually.
