Partitive

indénombrable In Linguistic, the partitive is the Cas which expresses the part of a whole. Example: “He eats mashed potatoes . ” In certain languages, he is regarded a number, and not as a case.

In certain languages, like the Finnish or the Estonian , the use of partitive is very wide and it is used with each time one does not want to speak about a “whole” (marking of the names preceded by a numeral adjective, marking of the complement of object, predicative adjective etc). It is expressed then by means of Suffixe S specific (in Finnish) or of modifications of the root of the word (Estonian).
