Part off Mind

Piece off Mind is the fourth album of the British group of heavy metal Iron Maiden, left the May 28th 1983.

The album

He was success with in particular the two excellent extracts of the album: Flight off Icarus and especially The Trooper . At the time of its exit in Great Britain, the album reached the third place of the sales.

The formation of the group undergoes a new evolution with the departure of Clive Burr for the group Trust, whereas the beater of this group Nicko McBrain joined Iron Maiden. Manpower will remain stable for several years and three other albums studio.

One finds in the compositions the multiple cultural influences of the group. Thus To Tame has Land is inspired by the novel of Frank Herbert Dune; The Trooper of the load of the light brigade of Lord Tennyson; Where Eagles Dare (When the eagles attack) film of the same name and novel of Alistair MacLean; Quest for Fire of the film éponyme ( the War of fire ); Flight off Icarus for the Greek legend of Icare; Sun and Steel on legendary the Samurai Miyamoto Musashi; a quotation of the writer Gilbert K. Chesterton begins Revelations , piece which is subject to also the influence of Aleister Crowley. These multiple inspirations announce the three concept-albums to be followed: Powerslave, Somewhere in Time and Seventh Its off has Seventh Its.

To make fun of the religious bigots who present Iron Maiden like satanist, especially since their preceding album, an extract of the Bible figure forward on the booklet of the album, but the word Pain (pain) is replaced by Brain what gives the opportunity of a tasty word game (and beautiful introduction for Nicko McBrain).

In the same register on the album a tasty wink in the subliminal messages is reproduced shown finger like vectors of the satanism. At the beginning of the song Still Life , one hears a voice of in addition to-fall that one imagines readily emanating from one of the delirious monsters of H.P. Lovecraft. When one passes this piece to back, one hears a sentence without tail nor head, Hmm, Hmmm, What Ho sed of you ing wid of you ree bonce? Don' T meddle wid you ings yo don' T understand , recorded by Niko Mc Brain passably drunk imitating Idi Amin Hobby-horse.

It is the first album of the group which is not named by a title of the album, although the close expression peace off mind appears in the sixth piece Still Life . Before stopping its choice on this denomination, the album thought initially of titrating it Food for Thought . The publication of the album is followed world tour Piece off Turn .

The title The Trooper was republished in live version in 2005 like extract of the album Death one the Road.
