Parliament of the Democratic republic of Congo

The Parlement of the Democratic republic of Congo is the collegial body which ensures the representation of the people. It is composed of two rooms: the national Assembled and the Senate.

The Parliament is responsible to make and demolish the Loi S, like controlling the action of the government.

History

One of the compromises of the belgo-Congolese Roundtable held in Brussels in 1960 was that the Parliament of the future independent state, Belgian Congo, will be bicameral. Under the first Republic, the Room of the Representatives or Deputies represented the Nation in his globality and the Senate represented the interests of the provinces.

The Constitution of the June 24th 1967 which had instituted a centralized unit State removed the Senate and founded a Parliament monocaméral.

The Constitution of Transition from the April 4th 2003 re-established a bicameral Parliament.
