Park of the Barn
The park of the Barn is a public Parc of: 213097 m ² located downtown of Geneva, more precisely on left bank of the Lake Léman.
History
The park was the object of several archaeological excavation campaigns. Those revealed traces of human occupations going back to approximately 4500 av. J. - C. as well as a building of the Bronze Age (II) and a Gallo-Roman Palais of the 1st century which occupied the current site of the park.The park, private property until in 1918, is bequeathed to the town of Geneva by William Favre this year. Thereafter, the city creates in the park, between 1945 and 1946, largest public rosery of the Canton of Geneva. In 1947, the Genevese Company of horticulture creates an international contest of pink new which uses a new rosery installed in top of the park.
