Park of Beervelde

The park of Beervelde is a private Parc of 24 hectares located on the territory of the commune of Lochristi, in Belgium.

History

The park was drawn in 1873, by the architect Louis Fuchs in the style landscape known as " with the anglaise" , at the request of the Count Charles de Kerchove de Denterghem, president of the Gantese Floral festivals. Today still, this park and the name of Kerchove de Denterghem remain related to the promotion of the Gantese horticulture.

The Count André de Kerchove de Denterghem chairs the Asbl which organizes the Gantese Floral festivals and his/her brother the Count Renaud manages the park and organizes there the Journées of the Plants of Beervelde . The wooded part shelters a remarkable woodland garden by its plants castrales in April and its Azalée S in May.
