Park Saint-Pierre-of-Body

The Gare of Saint-Pierre-of-Body is an important railway station located close to Tours (Indre-et-Loire). The importance of this station is due to the position in cul-de-sac of the Gare of Turns, obliging the trains doing nothing but mark the stop with Tours to turn back to set out again then. The station of Saint-Pierre-of-Body, located on the line of Paris at Bordeaux, allows the trains avoiding this generating operation of waste of time. The trains continuing beyond Tours mark a stop with Saint-Pierre-of-Body. To serve Turns, the SNCF set up a shuttle service between the two stations to facilitate the correspondences for the travellers coming (or going) with Tours. These shuttles now form part of the public grid system of the agglomeration of Tours.

From its strategic position, on the the Loire, all the railway complex of Turns/Saint-Pierre-of-Body was the target of bombardments during the Second world war. Following the opening of Atlantic LGV, the building traveller, which did not exist any more, was rebuilt in 1990 to accommodate TGV Paris - La Rochelle and Paris - Bordeaux, and beyond towards Hendaye, Tarbes and Toulouse. Many regional trains now make a stop in station of Saint-Pierre-of-Body in order to carry out the correspondence with TGV not serving the Gare of Turns.

Saint-Pierre-of-Body is also an important center of sorting freight which also extends on the common neighbor from the City-with-Ladies. The railway influence also includes/understands a workshop of maintenance and repair used for all the trains of the west of the France.

The station is also served by the relations Aqualys and Interloire.
