Parisian cemetery
The Parisian cemeteries are Cimetière S managed by the Ville of Paris, which includes at the same time the cemeteries located inside the communal limits ( will intra muros ), but also several others located outside, in communes of the small crown ( extra muros ).
They are 20, whose 14 will intra muros and 6 extra muros .

Some of these cemeteries extra muros were annexed in 1860, at the same time as eleven communes bordering on Paris of the time, even if they were located beyond these annexed territories.
The others were created thereafter.
The Parisian cemeteries extra muros are opposed to the communal cemeteries, which as for them are managed by the commune on which they are installed. Each commune below has a communal cemetery thus.
Other necropoles in Paris
Paris counts others Nécropole S:
- the Catacombs, located in the underground careers;
- the the Pantheon, which accommodates the remainders of the large characters having marked the French history;
- the Hotel of the Invalids, which accommodates a military necropolis;
- the Cemetery of Innocent the, which does not exist any more.
There exist also private cemeteries:
- the Cemetery of Picpus.
