Parish of Saint-Jacob

The parish of Saint-Jacob (English: Saint James Parish ) is located in the American State of the Louisiana. Its seat is with Convent. According to the census of 2000, its population is of 21.216 inhabitants. It is one of the 22 parishes of the official area of the Acadiane.
The parish has a surface of 637 km ² of emerged ground and 30 km ² of water. It is wedged between the Paroisse of the Rise in north, the Paroisse of Saint-Jean-Baptist in the east, the Paroisse of Lafourche in the south, and the Paroisse of the Assumption in the west.
Demography
At the time of the census of 2000, the 21.216 inhabitants of the parish were divided into 49,99% of “White”, 49,38% of “Blacks” and Afro-Américains, 0,09% of Amerindian, 0,05% of Asiatique S, like 0,12% of not-indexed so above and 0,37% métissées people.The parish counted 4,97% which speaks the French or the French cajun at the house, that is to say 980 people speaking at least once per day the “language about Molière”. There is also of 105 inhabitants (0,53%) who speak a creole based on French.
