The parish of Lafayette (English: Lafayette Parish ) is a parish in Louisiana with the the United States of America. The seat is the town of Lafayette. It was populated of 190.503 inhabitants in 2000. It is one of the 22 parishes of the official area of the Acadiane.

The parish has a surface of 699 km ² of emerged ground and 1 km ² of water. It is wedged between the Paroisse of Saint-Landry in north, the Paroisse of Saint Martin's day in the east, the Paroisse of Ibérie in south-east, the Paroisse of Vermilion in the south and the Paroisse of Acadie in the west.

At the time of the census of 2000, the 190.503 inhabitants of the parish were divided into 73,36% of “White”, 23,80% of “Blacks” and Afro-Américains, 1,08% of Asiatique S, 0,28% of Amerindian, like 0,52% of not indexed so above and 0,93% métissées people.

The parish counted 14,37% which speaks the French or the French cajun at the house, that is to say 25.300 people speaking at least once per day the “language about Molière”. Moreover, there is of 679 inhabitants (0,38%) who speak a creole based on French.
