Paris-Roubaix one of oldest the cycle races, is created in 1896 after the opening of new the Vélodrome of Roubaix. It disputed every years until our days, in March or in April, stopped only by the two world wars. Since 1968, it does not leave any more a Paris but of Compiegne, before traversing more than two hundred and fifty kilometers towards north.
Other sectors, very narrow, were traced between the fields of beets and they can be borrowed only in Indian file. When the test proceeds under the rain, mud adds to the difficulty and the risks. The winner is not only one strong man of the group, but it must also be lucky and quite constant by its team-members.
The race is very prestigious below, as the presence confirms it, in the prize list, of the first winner of the Tour de France, Maurice Garin (1897, 1898), of famous the Fausto Coppi (1950) and Louison Bobet (1956), and of two victorious quintuples of the Turn, Eddy Merckx (1968, 1970, 1973) and Bernard Hinault (1981) which on arrival releases “Paris-Roubaix is a connery”. The recordman of victories is for the Belgian Roger De Vlaeminck, with four successes (1972, 1974, 1975 and 1977). The record of consecutive victories is divided by the French Octave Lapize (1909, 1910 and 1911) and the Italian Francesco Moser (1978, 1979, 1980).
This traditional, formerly registered with the calendar of the World cup is part from now on of the Pro-Turn. The winner receives a trophy made up of true a Pavé.
