Parasang

The parasang (in Persan فرسنگ , farsang ), also spelled parasange or parasangue , is an old unit of distance Perse correspondent with approximately 5.6  km. It was the distance which one could traverse with foot in one hour.

The etymology of the word is word old Perse parasang .

This unit was the principal measuring unit of the distances in Persia (Iran) up to one recent time. An alternative pronunciation of the word is farsakh .
