Paranormal

The Paranormal (or the adjective paranormal ) is a term used to qualify a whole of phenomena which, according to its defenders, would violate the established scientific laws. The prefix " para" indicating something which is beside the standard, the standard being here the scientific consensus establishing what is reality. A phenomenon paranormal would be a phenomenon to which one did not find an explanation rational, thus leaving the open door to interpretations and attributions with mysterious causes .

One will distinguish the reductionistic interpretation, which brings back the phenomena paranormaux prétenduments to prosaic variables, parapsychologic interpretation (which considers that the paranormaux phenomena really exist). The skepticism, and its French-speaking version the Zététique, is a movement which studies the phenomena " dits" paranormaux.

The initiators of the Parapsychologie were given as objective to study with their manner what they regard as extrasensory perceptions and the Psychokinèse.

Phenomena known as paranormaux

There exists a whole of phenomena which are qualified the paranormaux one:

  • the Near Death Experience (which indicate the lived specific ones at the time of brain death)

  • the Cryptozoologie (which studies the existence of species unknown factors)  : rather unjust classification, because the object of the cryptozoology is less to cultivate the myths to seek if there is or not a real unknown animal specie behind a legend.

  • the phenomenon UFO, within the framework of the extraterrestrial Assumption to the second degree.

The paranormal is to be differentiated from the Surnaturel which implies divine causes.

The paranormal is generally a subject considered as not very serious. No alleged holder of paranormaux capacities could gain the international Défi zetetic. The majority of the scientists consider that the paranormal is only one business of Charlatans.

Reason and the paranormal

The paranormal does not exist… or at least in the spirit of those which believe in it. We name paranormal an unexplainable natural phenomenon or inappréhendable by the collective reason.

Northern lights, the eclipses, the mirages… and many other phenomena naturalness were indicated like strange or mytérieux . All that the men grant to the divine intervention also concerns the " forgery surnaturel" (the creation of the universe, time… that one can neither explain nor to include/understand). The visions of certain fighter pilots could be described as paranormales .
