Parakou

Parakou is more the big city of the north of the Bénin and is the capital of the department of Borgou. It is located on the main roads crossing the Benign one of north at the south. Parakou is connected to Cotonou by the railway line of Benign-Niger. Its population would border the 200.000 inhabitants.
Economy
Its principal industries are the manufacture of groundnut oil and the brewery. The local economy is also centered on the forestry development, the culture and the shelling of cotton and the production of the Kapok.

Current mayor: Samou Seidou Adambi (succeeds Rachidi Gbadamassi).
