Paraesthesia
The paraesthesia (also called swarming ) is a disorder of the sensitivity, unpleasant and not painful, giving the impression to palpate cotton, and being able to be accompanied by a Anesthésie (more or less important disappearance of the sensitivity).
Causes
The paraesthesias occur either spontaneously or after the attack of a nerve or a blood-vessel.
The deterioration of blood circulation is due to the deterioration of the wall of the vessels or compression, often transitory, of a member.
The paraesthesias can also be the result of a heavier pathology:
-
Complication of the diabetes (abnormal rise in the sugar rate in blood)
-
Multiple sclerosis: disease démyélinisante (involving the disappearance of the Myéline, lipidic substance surrounding nervous fibers) of the central Nervous system (Brain and Spinal-cord), resulting in a sclerosis (hardening due to the abnormal deposit of a type of fabric called conjunctive Fabric), appearing in the form of plates on the level of the white substance
-
Polynévrite : attack of the nervous system involving a degradation of the myéline (fatty substance forming the sheath of the nervous cells: Neuron S) of the peripheral nervous system (nervous system except the brain and the spinal-cord). The polynévrite has various origins (intoxication by industrial products, deprives of Vitamine S of the group B, heredity, diabetes)
-
Syndrome of the carpel tunnel: characterized by a numbness of the fingers primarily the night or the morning with the alarm clock. It is due to the compression of a nerve of the arm or a median nerve, which is carried out on the level of the carpel tunnel, i.e. in the wrist, and being able to involve a paralysis of the fingers.
-
a paraesthesia can also result from the neurotoxicity of certain products used in cancerology, which results in peripheral neuropathies (of which paraesthesias and a reduction in the ostéotendineux reflexes) generally reversible.
