Paradox of the grains of millet
The paradox of the grains of millet is one of the Paradoxe S posed by the philosopher Zénon d' Elée. It was emitted in order to prove that the Matière does not exist, in order to accredit its Master Parménide
The experiment
Zénon takes in its hands a heap of profits of millet. At this time, we all can affirm that this heap is consitué of matter. Then, it drops the grains one by one. When they touch the ground, since they are very fine, they do not emit any its perceptible. He concludes from it that the matter does not exist. If there is no matter, there is no movement, main argument of its Master Parménide.
We notice all that this example is a Aporie and soaps that with suitable means we could have distinguished a sound at the time of the contact of the grain with the ground.
Notice
Zénon did not deny that it felt a grain between its fingers. But he affirmed that it was only about one illusion and that the only thing which existed was the to be.
