Paradisio

The park Paradisio (or more simply Paradisio ) is an animalist park proposing a multitude of species different and in particular of the species from birds. Opened in 1993, it is located at Cambron-Casteau in the province of the Hainaut in Belgium. Each year, more than one half-million of visitors traverse the paths of the park.

Curiosities

Subtropical greenhouse

Enormous a greenhouse of 7.000 m ² raised tropical trees (Banana, lianas) shelters inter alia giant tortoises of Seychelles, guêpier of Europe, suricates, otters, grackles, and caiman. The greenhouse is also decorated with cascade and water levels.

Birdcage cathedral

The enormous birdcage lodges red ibis, pink flamingos, touracos purple and many other species.

Island with the monkeys

The named island Madidi point of disjunction various species of monkeys in freedom coming from the Amazon forest.

The archipelago with the lemurs

The archipelago named Nosy Komba point of disjunction various species of lemurs in freedom coming from Madagascar.

Chinese garden

Since 2005, the park shelters a Chinese garden of more than 3.000 m ². It is about the largest garden of the kind in Europe. One can see there small pandas and Muntiacinae.

Giant aquarium Nautilus

This aquarium based on the topic of the novel of Jules Verne ( Twenty thousand miles under the seas ) is located inside the castle of the park. While strolling in a decoration pointing out the submarine Nautilus , the visitor can see a multitude of marine species like barracuda, sharks, jellyfishes, lines and Hippocampes.

Bay with the penguins and otaries

The rock bay (named Algoa bay ) shelters otaries and penguins. A glazed cave passing under the basin makes it possible to see these animals at the time of their divings.

Mersus Emergo

Since 2003, the park in collaboration with the WWF-Belgium opened the attraction ( Mersus Emergo ) which is a counterpart of a whaler in which exposures of sensitizing concerning environmental protection proceeds. One finds there also vivariums being used with the revalidation as reptiles.

Birds of prey

During demonstrations, the heads of the spectators are almost touched by the birds of prey (Aigles, tubes, vultures, owls and falcons…)

Sponsorships of animals

Since its creation, the park is implied in various programs of protection of species threatened of disappearance. In the continuation of its policy of safeguarding, the visitors have the possibility of sponsoring animals.
