Panom Yeerum (Thai: พนมยีรัมย์, Kampuchean: ចាភ្ំយីរុាំ), known in Occident under the name of Tony Jaa , is a Thai actor of Martial arts and a choreographer specialized in Thai Muay, Taekwondo, handling of swords and Gymnastique. It was born the February 5th 1976 in the province from Surin (Northern of the Thailand).

Jaa started to work as a Cascadeur, appearing in the film Mortal Kombat, destruction final ( Mortal Kombat: Annihilation ). Its first large film, in which it holds the main role Ting , was Ong-bak in 2003. Tony Jaa carries out there all the cascades without technical assistance or effects special. He states to be influenced by the action film stars Chinese: Bruce Lee, Jet Li and Jackie Chan, although its style of engagements in Ong-Bak is faithful to its inhabitants of Thailand roots.

The talent of Tony Jaa as a practitioner of martial arts, in particular his performance in Ong-bak , impressed many spectators, acquiring a growing number of admirors to him throughout the world. Its extreme popularity among the teenagers of North America (but also among all the age brackets) who saw his demonstrations is explained by the similarity between his movements and those of the combatants of sets of martial arts. Many its movements seem indeed impossible to realize physically, and resemble those used in the video games.

Its last film, the Honor of the dragon , left the February 8th 2006 to France.
