Papiliorama

The papiliorama is a tourist attraction which is with Chiètres in Suisse. It is composed of several greenhouses which reproduce various Biotope S of which a tropical garden. A great number of butterfly S among 50 species are present there like various tropical animals (Oiseau X, Amphibien S, Mammifère S, etc).

Another extension, the Nocturama makes it possible to observe night animals thanks to a special glazing which blocks the light. This last greenhouse is single in Europe.

History

The first greenhouse, built with Marine, was inaugurated in 1988 thanks to the work of the biologist Maarten Bijleveld van Lexmond and of his family.

In 1995, an accidental fire destroyed part of the installation which has being rebuilt and repopulated.

In 2002, considering impossibility of increasing surface with Marin, it was decided to transfer it to Chiètres where new markets were built and inaugurated in 2003.

In 2005, the stop " Kerzers Papillorama" on the railway line Lyss - Chiètres was created.
