Paper of Arménie

The Papier of Arménie is indicated to characterize a notebook made up of thirty six precut plates is twelve sheets of three divisions of paper scented with the Résine of Styrax on which are printed the mark, triple mention and the signature of A. PONSOT.

History

At the end of the 19th century, Auguste Ponsot discovers that the Armenian make burn Benjoin to scent and disinfect their houses. Auguste “will adopt” this habit in France with Henri Rivier, pharmacist. This last dissolves the Benjoin in alcohol with 90º, mixed with a paper support Buvard. The “Alchimie” that Henri Rivier carried out goes revealed very useful: the paper of Arménie is crowned success during the exposure of hygiene of 1888 and 1889.

There is produced with Montrouge since 1885, its formula secret remains unchanged.

Use

We can detach a Lamelle, to fold it in accordion, to deposit it in a support resistant to heat, to light it then to blow to obtain an incandescent end. The Lamelle consumed slowly releases an odor of Benjoin and characteristic Vanille, a perfume subtle and pleasant, whose virtues formerly aimed at purifying and to cleanse the air of the houses.

This reputation was founded on the fact that a piece of meat preserved under a bell where one had made burn Paper of Arménie did not rot at the end of one week, whereas the piece of meat placed under a normal bell was in decomposition.

Today this product is presented like a perfume of interior or perfume of environment, without propellent gas.

The Paper of Arménie is very appreciated in the Collectivité S, stock rooms of various nature and it is excellent an anti Mite S; finally, it is a means of scenting a wall cupboard or a library - by slipping some divisions into the books - a long time with lower costs. It is also very effective against the odors of Cuisine and in particular of crackling, of smoke of Cigarette, animals.

It is a natural product and which thus contrary to the bombs aerosols does not harm the environment. It is however advised not to make some burn more than one strip at the same time in a part closed then to air the part; thus the part will be scented without the use of a propellent Gaz and in a few seconds only.

Polemic

The Paper of Arménie had been put in charge after quantified presences of Benzène and Formaldéhyde was detected according to a study bearing on deodorizers of interiors led by a consumers' union. In the same publication, it would have been to good specify that on the sixty twelve products tested; the Paper of Arménie is the product having the lowest rates.

A normal use does not present a danger.

It is necessary to burn a plate 3 to 4 times per week, and also to air the dwelling regularly. Especially not to let burn a Plate without monitoring and leave the product to the range of the Child S.
