Events
- Beginning of the reign of Carus, Roman Emperor. > 283
- September-October: Probus is assassinated close to Sirmium by its soldiers the day before a campaign against the Perses. The Prefect of the court, Mr. Aurelius Carus, succeeds to him. This one names immediately its two sons Carin and Numérien in order to charge them with defending the Occident and the East, whereas itself left against Persians.
- Carus declares the nomination imperial by the useless Senate. The Senate loses this prerogative indeed definitively.
- Carus pack the Sarmates on the the Danube and reconquers the Mésopotamie on the Perses. He dies, under mysterious conditions, during forwarding (283).
