Hero éponyme of the first book of François Rabelais published in 1532. Following the success of this one, the author signs in 1534 a Romance second , Gargantua . In prey with the censure of the Sorbonne, it publishes these two works under the pseudonym of Alcofrybas Nasier (Anagramme of François Rabelais).
Complete title of the novel: the horrible ones and terrible facts and prowesses of very famous Pantagruel King of Dipsodes, wire of the Large Giant Gargantua .
