The psychology of the development is the study of the changes in psychological operation (cognitive functions , Affectives and Sociales) of the Individu during his life. It aims at encircling the Mode S of operation of the Individu and the process of transformation of this operation during the various periods of its life.

It includes in fact these two fields of original studies, that is to say the child psychology and the genetic psychology. Indeed, the genetic psychology was replaced by the psychology of the development to avoid the ambiguity of the genetic term, between the genesis like process of growth of the individual, and the material unit of biological transmission.

Definition

Development

The development is the whole of the transformations which affects the living organisms during time. Concepts of continuity, evolution, finality. The development renvoit with 2 things:
  1. At the stages temporally fléchées which lead an organization, of an initial state simple, primitive, towards a more elaborate final state, complicated.

  2. With the mechanisms which ensure the passage of a stage another.

What it is

Psychology développementale is the study of the changes of the individual, during the period which extends from its Conception, until its Mort.

What it is not

  • It is not only one child psychology, who will study an age bracket restricted, without taking into account the other periods.
  • It is not only one genetic psychology, which studies the ontogenesis (study of fecundation at the adulthood) of the subject.

Three theoretical currents

Sigmund Freud

The concept développemental most known Freudien is the infantile Sexualité. The emotional one holds a dominant place in its design. The originality at Freud is that the psychological development rests on the body, which is the support of mental operation. The development can be reversible because of the social conflict.

Piaget

Contrary to Freud, Piaget regards affectivity as under product of the cognitive , who is, for him, the concept headlight.

Walloon Henri

Walloon takes the child like a total being. Thus, even if it underlines the emotional side of the development, the influence of the environment, it attaches an importance equalizes with emotional, social and the cognitive one, which is for Wallon indissociable of the person. It is the " globality of the personne".
