Definition

In Genetic of the populations, the principle of panmixia considers that the individuals are divided in a homogeneous way within the population and take part in term reproductive, with the formation of the following generation. In other words, it is considered that there is no Sélection pre-zygotique, the Gamètes of all the individuals of the generation considered being poolés . The formation of the following generation is thus the product of a random Tirage in this gametic Pool. In other words, an individual pertaining to a panmictic population has as many chances to reproduce with any other individual of this population.

Principle of Hardy-Weinberg
