Panel

In sociology, a panel is a group of people questioned regularly on their opinions or their attitudes. The people can take part in the investigations by mail, telephone or, more and more often, via a Web site conceived for this purpose. The econometrics developed specific models to treat the data of panel by taking of account temporal dimension.

The constitution of a panel with an aim of a precise survey requires to know the population sufficiently, in order to choose the people most likely to be representative of the population concerned.

The statistics and the surveys call upon very diverse panels. The probed population varies according to the population aimed by the study.
