Pancrace

The Pancrace is a form of Greek fight very violent, allowing all the blows, even more the mortals. This discipline belonged to the ancient Olympic Games. Polydamas de Skotoussa was Olympic champion in -408. Today, this sport is a free discipline of Combat.

Contemporary Pancrace

This style of combat is very complete since it allows exchanges as well upright (sparring) that on the ground (Grappling or wrestling). A combat can thus be held entirely upright or be transformed into fight on the ground as of the first second according to the mood and the technique of the combatants.

Necessary equipment

Gloves of Free fight, gum-shield, shell, shin guards like shorts and tee-shirt (or barechested in competition). In antiquity, this sport was practiced without any protection.

Techniques

Concerning the combat in itself, upright, are authorized techniques of striking close to boxing Thai (feet, fists and knees, blows of elbow being prohibited) and to the techniques of projection resembling those of the judo but while adapting to the fact that one does not have a catch on clothing because of the absence of kimono. On the ground, strike them are prohibited in France and if they are authorized, it are only simulated (in particular in certain federations of pancrace like PANKRATION ATHLIMA); if not on the ground all the techniques of tender are authorized (key arms, legs, hips, nape of the neck and throttlings blood or respiratory).
