Pan-American Plays
The Pan-American Jeux are a Compétition multisports, organized every four years, in which the athlèthes of the countries of the America S. take part.
History
The idea to organize these Pan-American Plays comes from the behavior of the plays of Central America in the Années 1920. In 1932, a first proposal was made for the organization of the first Pan-American Plays and the Pan-American sporting organization had been born. The first plays were envisaged in 1942 with Buenos Aires, but were deferred to 1951 because of the Second world war. Consequently, the plays took place every four years with the participation of more than 5 000 athletes coming from 42 countries at the time of the last edition. However, following the example other competitions multisports organized on other continents, the Panaméricains plays do not have an important popularity in the press. For example, the edition of 1999 with Winnipeg saw the participation of athletes of second level and profited from no cover televised on the principal networks.
It was even organized a winter edition of the Panaméricains plays, with Las Leñas (Argentine), in 1989, but success if was mitigated that the second edition was cancelled. There was consequently, no new edition of the plays of Panaméricains winter.
