Pamir (river)
The Pamir is the right river-source of the Piandj and thus of the Amou-Daria in Central Asia. Its course is held at the border between Tadjikistan and Afghanistan.
Geography
The river occurs on the plate of the Pamir, in the autonomous region of the Haut-Badakhchan, in the extreme south-east of the Tadjikistan. It is born as an emissary from the Lac Zorkul at an altitude from 4.130 meters. As of its birth, it runs towards the west and materializes the border with the Afghanistan on the totality of its course. With the junction between the mounts of the Pamir and the Hindu Kouch, in the south-east of the Peak Karl Marx (6.726 m), not far from the locality of Ljangar (altitude 2.799 m), the Pamir river is linked with the Wakhan-Daria come from left, to form the Piandj.
