Pamela Melroy
Pamela Ann Melroy (born the September 17th 1961) is a American Astronaute E specialized in the piloting of the space shuttles. It has in particular the statute of astronaut veteran and commander.
Military career
Pamela Melroy took part in several missions of combat during the Guerre of the Gulf of 1991. She was test pilot, in particular for the C-17. She left USAF with the rank of Colonel in 2007.
Flights carried out
WFP Melroy controlled the shuttle Discovery in October 2000 (mission STS-92) then the shuttle Atlantis in October 2002 (mission STS-112).It is the only pilot woman of shuttle in service to date (October 2007) and the second woman to be reached the statute of commander after Eileen Collins: NASA indeed entrusted to him the command of the mission STS-120 which proceeded from October 23rd to November 7th, 2007.
