Palm (plunged)

A palm is equipment making it possible to move more quickly in water. One uses them per pair, with each foot. They more effectively push back water because of their more important surface of contact and thus allow a better movement, in the condition of having learned some the use. They belong to the essential equipment of the subaqueous plunger in bottles like plunger in apnea, with the tuba and the Diving mask.

The modern palms were invented by the commander Louis de Corlieu in 1934

The shape of the palms imitates that of the members of certain animals which are provided with it naturally, like the Grenouille.

There exists another category of palms whose effectiveness is not any more to show since all the candidates use it. It is about the Monopalme.

One speaks about Bi-palms when each foot is fitted of a palm. According to the selected use one will be able to choose different lengths and/or forms, but also with an aerofoil made up of materials adapted more specifically to this use.

In deep-sea diving with bottle, one uses a palm known as " réglable" because of a slipper not closed on the back where the foot is blocked by an adjustable strap. This type of palm makes it possible to be fitted on botillons. These let us botillons allow to protect themselves from the cold but also to go to join the place of diving. They are also easier to thread especially when one is already harnessed of his equipment of diving.
