Pallene (the moon)
Pallène (provisional designation S/2004 S 2 ) is a Natural satellite of Saturn. He was discovered by Sebastien Charnoz, scientist of the mission Cassini-Huygens, carried out by Carolyn C. Porco, and Al in 2004. Pallene orbits Saturn at a distance of approximately 211.000 km (what gives him one period of 1,142 d) and makes ~4 km in diameter.
The names Méthone and Pallène were temporarily approved by Division III (Sciences of the planetary systems) of the international astronomical Union, Work group on the nomenclature of the planetary system. They should be ratified at the time of the general meeting of 2006 of the UAI, with Prague. Pallène was one of the Alcyonides, the seven girls of the giant Alcyonée.
By supposing his density equal to that of Mimas (1,17 t/m ³), one can estimate what follows:
- mass 3,92×1013 kg
- revolved 0,000 65 m/s ²
- escape velocity 0,0016 m/s
Simple: Pallene (moon)
