Pallars Sobirà
The Pallars Sobirà extends, of north in the south, the congosto of Collegats at the village of Alós d' Isil, while following the course of the river Noguera Pallaresa. It is the fourth greater area of Catalogne and it has one of the lowest densities of the country, with only 4 inhabitants with the km ². It counts some 6000 inhabitants on the whole.
One finds in the area more the big lake of the the Pyrenees, that of Certascan, and the top highest of Catalonia, the Pica of Estats (3 143 m).
The major part of the Pallars is protected. There are various zones the FULL (Pla d' Espais d' Interès Natural de Catalunya- Plan of Spaces of Natural Interest of Catalonia) National park of Aigüestortes and the Lake Sant Maurici, the Natural park of the Viola Pirineo, Natural reserve Partial of Noguera Pallaresa - Collegats, of broad spaces of the network Natura 2000, the Natural reserve of Hunting of Boumort.
