Palate of the dukes of Burgundy
the palate of the dukes and the states of Burgundy is an architectural unit including/understanding several overlapping parts: oldest is the ducal palate of the 14th century and 15th century, of Gothic Style, which still includes/understands a home (quite visible since the place of the Dukes), the kitchens (court of Bar) and two turns: the tower of the terrace, or turn Philippe the Good, one “watches for” which dominates all Dijon, and the tower of Bar. Most of the visible buildings today was however built with 17th and especially 18th centuries, in a traditional style . Lastly, the frontage of the museum of the fine arts, on the place of the Ste Chapelle, rose at the 19th century with the site of the Ste Chapelle now disappeared. This unit, in a remarkable state of conservation, testifies to almost a millenium of political life in Dijon.
The Palate of the dukes of Burgundy was the seat of the Duché of Burgundy and the Burgundian State of the dukes of Burgundy and acts today as Town hall of Dijon and Musée of the Art schools of Dijon

The Duché of Burgundy is founded at the 9th century towards 880 starting from the Royaume of Burgundy, by the kings Carolingien Louis III of France and Carloman II of France and the princely members of their family who share the Carolingian Empire of Charlemagne of which they inherited by reorganizing all the kingdoms Carolingien S France in Duché S and county S feudal vassal of king de France.Richard II of Burgundy (known as Richard the Dispenser of justice) is named primitive Marquis then first duke of Burgundy and one of the six even laic of France by its suzerain the king Louis III of France (see Liste of the dukes of Burgundy)

- Charles of Burgundy known as Charles Bold the
Following the death of Charles Bold the, the Palate of the dukes became Logis of the King with the annexation the French part of the Burgundian State with the royal field by the king Louis XI in 1482. It was used as residence to the governors of the province, and sheltered starting from 1679 the States of Burgundy.
At the 17th century and 18th century, the Hotel of the dukes and the Palate of the States are the subject of an important traditional reorganization while preserving the bases Gothic of origin by the first architect of Louis XIV, Jules Hardouin-Mansart which intervenes with Dijon starting from 1685 and restructures the palate from that of the model of the royal place of Paris: its hemicycle of arcades been used as ECRIN with the statue of Louis XIV installed in 1725 and melted with the French revolution
The Palate of the Dukes and the States is today in a remarkable state of conservation and to date acts as Town hall of Dijon and shelters the Musée of the Art schools of founded Dijon in 1787.
