Palate of Ruminates
The Palais of Ruminates is a building of style Renaissance florentine builds at the end of the 18th century on the territory of the town of Lausanne, in Suisse.
Situation
It is in the east of the place of Riponne, not far from the City.
History
With its death, Gabriel de Rumine, Russian wire of princes, offers to the frank town of Lausanne 1,5 million for the construction of a building of public utility.The construction of the building begins in 1892 according to the plans of the architect Lyons Gaspard André. It is inaugurated on November 3rd, 1902, but only in 1904 is finished. It then shelters various services of the Université of Lausanne, of which its library. It also accommodates the scientific and artistic collections of the east city of the canton.
In the years 1980, considering the lack of place, the university was moved on its current site, in Dorigny, at the edge of the lake, and the palate of Ruminates at restructured summer.
The Palate of Ruminates today
Part of the cantonal and university library (BCU), the other part is on the site of the Université of Lausanne, remained with the Palate of Ruminates. Moreover, it currently accommodates several museums:
