Palate of Amusements
Close to the walls of the the Kremlin, between the tower Komendantskaïa and the Troïtskaïa tower, an interesting civil building built in 1652 rises, the Palais of Amusements (in Russian: ПотёшныйДворец called also ПотёшныйДвор as on the plan of the Kremlin in 1917 of the article wikipedia the Kremlin).
It was built for the father-in-law of the Tsar Alexis Mikhaïlovich (thus the father of the tsarina Marie), the boyard Ilya Aanilovich Miloslavsky which lived 16 years there. After its death, the building of three stages was increased and converted into place of " spectacles and other menus plaisirs" (concerts, plays, puppets…) from where its current name.
It was a long time a place of dwelling (térem) of part of the family of the tsar (his/her sisters, for example). It is in this palate that Pierre First " Grand" accepted its elementary education (under the direction of Zotov)
It became then the residence of the commander of the Kremlin (from where the current name of the tower against which it is leant).
