In anatomy, the palate is the upper part of the oral Cavité.
It is constituted of two parts. In former two thirds, the palate is hard because osseous whereas behind it is known as slackness because made up of a aponévrose and muscles.
The osseous Palais is consisted of the meeting of the horizontal blades (palatine process) of the two bones jawbones and the meeting of the horizontal blades of the palatine bones.
The soft palate is the meeting of the tensor Muscle of the velum and Elevator muscle of the velum. At its posterior end, the Luette hangs. It is mobile thanks to the muscles, in particular during swallowing in order to protect the posterior choanes nasal.
