Palacký university
The University Palacký of Olomouc (in Czech: Univerzita Palackého , in Latin (official name): Universitas Palackiana Olomucencis ) is the oldest university of Moravie and the second older university of Tchéquie behind the Université Charles of Prague.
History
It is created on December 22nd 1573 of a decree which authorizes the Society of Jesus to open an establishment of higher education in Olomouc. The Guerre Thirty Year old stops, between 1618 and 1621, the educational activities. In 1778, the university is transferred towards Brno but in 1782, Joseph II of Austria orders in a decree, its repatriation towards Olomouc but occasion with the row of simple college of a three years degrades it consequently course. According to this decree, only Prague, Vienna and Lviv can profit from a university. In 1827, it acquires the statute of university again and is famous Université franciscaine ( Františkova univerzita ) in the honor of the emperor François Ier of Austria. The university, in 1860, is removed by decree of the emperor François-Joseph Ier of Austria. It reappears in 1946, under the name of Université Palacký in the honor of the Czech historian and grammairien František Palacký.
