Palacio de Bellas Artes
The Palacio de Bellas Artes (litt. Palais of the Art schools ) is the first opera of Mexico City. It was drawn by the architect Italy N Adamo Boari in 1901 but its construction was finished only in 1934. It includes/understands a spectacular interior of style Art déco and a majestic outside of style Art nouveau. The weight of the building is so important that it is inserted gradually on its foundations.
The site was chosen by the president Porfirio Díaz in the middle of the district of the businesses, close to an elegant park, opposite the Gratte-ciel S built in the Années 1920 - 30
The building is famous for its extravagant outside of art nouveau where the white marble was imported of Italy and its paintings made by Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, David Alfaro Siqueiros and Jose Clemente Orozco.
The mural entitled the man with the Crossing of Will rivet had been painted at the origin for the Rockefeller Center with New York. Will rivet in was to the 2/3 of its fresco when Rockefellers protested for an image of Vladimir Lénine in his painting. When Rivera refused to withdraw Stalin, its order was cancelled and the fresco was destroyed. Will rivet repainted it with more small scales in the palate in 1934 and renamed it the man, Contrôleur of the Universe .
The theater is used for the opera, the Classical music or the Danse (in particular the Baille Folklórico ). Another characteristic of this building are its stained glasses representing a Volcan or the Vallée of Mexico City.
Maria Callas gave many interpretations to it to the beginning of its career, and recorded many performances there. The theater was also the place of exposures of artists such as Frida Kahlo in 1954 and María Felix in 2002. Lastly, the first meeting of the film Frida took place here.
Palacio also includes/understands two museums: The Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes and the Museo of Arquitectura
History
At the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century, during the 30 years of reign of Porfirio Díaz on the Mexico, there be a tendency pronounced by the influence and the will to imitate European arts, its style and its manners. Following this fashion, the project of a national theater taken form and the construction of this building began on October 1st, 1904. The plans were made by Adamo Boari being copied on the European models.Whereas its construction was to finish for 1908, of many problems delayed this expiry: the site in itself where the ground is not very solid, then the Mexican Révolution which began in 1910.
Boari left Mexico City in 1916 and construction had to be virtually stopped until in 1932 where Federico Mariscal taken the changing and finished the building in 1934. Lastly, the public garden with gardens and the statues of PEGASE, decided by Boari itself, were finished only in 1994.
