Pagolle

Pagolle is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.

The commune is located at horse on the border separating the Low-Navarre from the Soule.

Its name Basque is Pagola or Phagola .

Pagolle is crossed by the Pagolla Uraitza which takes its source on the commune and which is thrown in the Bidouze 16.2 km further with Uhart-Mixes after having crossed Lohitzun-Oyhercq and Larribar-Sorhapuru . This river constitutes the border between the Soule and the Low-Navarre .

The toponym Pagolle appears in the forms Grangia de Paguola in 1178, Pagaule in XIIIè century, Nostre-Gives of Paguole towards 1460 Pagola about 1470 (contracts of Ohix).
