Paco Ibáñez

Paco Ibáñez is a Chanteur Spanish, engaged and libertarian, born with Valence in Spain on November 20th 1934.

His/her father was cabinetmaker and anarchistic sympathizer. Paco passed its early childhood to Barcelona, then the family was obliged to flee towards France at the end of the Guerre of Spain, in 1939. But in 1940 his/her father is stopped by the police force of the Régime of Vichy and is imprisoned in the Concentration camp of Argelès-sur-Mer, as of many Spanish republicans who had believed in the France of the Human rights .

The mother and her four children went back to the Basque Country to Spain where they hid in the family. In 1948 they clandestinely passed the border to find the father with Perpignan. In 1952 Paco with which his/her father had made learn the music, went up to Paris , it met there the Carmela singer whom it accompanied with the guitar during 8 years.

It is in 1964 that it recorded its first disc, but success came a little later in the years 68 - 69. In May 1969 to celebrate the events of May 68, it occurred in the court of the Sorbonne and became then one of the symbols of the fight of the academics.

In December 1969 it occurred with the Olympia where it sang for the 1st time in public the mala reputación or the bad reputation of Brassens translated into Spanish. It was interdict in Spain in 1971. In 1990, after the death of Free it turned over food in Spain, it lives in Barcelona since 1994.
In 2004, it militated against Jose María Aznar which it regards as a fascist, and the worthy successor of Franco.
