Packard Bell

Packard Bell is the data-processing subsidiary company general public of Lap Shun Hui cofounder of E-machine. Packard Bell distributes in particular PC of office and portables, platinums DivX of living room and walkmans MP3.

Founded in 1926 with Los Angeles, the group became a subsidiary company of the Teledyne conglomerate in 1968. The contractor Beny Alagem repurchased the mark in 1986, and used it to found a manufacturer of cheap personal computers. Packard Bell, after being repurchased by NEC, is not from now on present any more on the US market, but continuous with being present on the European market (3rd position in term of sale general public). NEC resold Packard Bell in June 2006.

History

Packard Bell was founded in 1926 as manufacturer of the radios. It later found success in the military industry of electronics. and the market of television. It also manufactured some of the computers earliest, most famous of which, PB 250 released in 1961, was one of the last users of magnetostrictive delay lines as an element of its memory. It was also the last machine to be based partially on the original designs of the pilot computer of C# of NPL of Alan Turing.
