Pace university

The University Pace or Pace University is a Université private, made up of several campuses, located in the State of New York, and from which one of the campuses is located at Manhattan, with New York. The university was creates by two brothers, Homer S. and Charles A. Pace, in 1906. The project of initial of the two brothers was to create a mixed business school. The current one and sixth president of the university is David A. Caputo, doctor of political science.

The university is especially re-elected for its Law School , (school of right), which received a distinction in the U.S. News & World Report which counts best the universities of the country in various fields. In the same way, the Lubin School off Business , business school was preceded, at the same time for its bachelor' S dismantles and its MBA.

History

In 1906, the Pace brothers, Homer and Charles found the school Pace and Pace , a mixed business school. At the time of the first year, in 1906, the class was made up of ten men and three women. The two brothers founders of the school of accountancy Pace, Homer and Charles Pace gave them even the courses of Comptabilité and Commercial law. The courses proceeded then in the old building of New York Tribune , where a classroom had been acquired by the two brothers with the help of a loan of 600 dollars. Because of its rapid growth during the years, the university was forced to move on several occasions, not having a appointed campus.

In 1948, the school accepted off the title of college (university with short cycle, different from the university) by the New York State Board , and, in 1951, the university acquired its first campus in the south of Manhattan, located at the 41 park Row, which always forms part of the university today. The campus of Pleasantville, located in the Comté of Westchester as for him was created in 1963. In 1969, the principal building of the campus, the One Pace Plaza was completed. It was built in the place of the building of the New York Tribune, which had been the first building to accommodate the university in 1906. In 1973, the university acquires the title of University , Pace being until now a college . Little time after, in 1975, a new campus was created in White Plains, where the Law School is currently located (school of right).

In 2006, the university celebrated its centenary with the campus of Pleasantville, bringing together the former students of the university, like his personnel. On this occasion, the former president of the the United States Bill Clinton made a speech, and received the honorary title of Honorary doctorate off humane letters from Pace . The Briarcliff College as for him was created in 1977.

Campuses

Following the example several universities of the town of New York, Pace University and made up of several campuses distributed in the Westchester County, and in the town of New York.

New York

The campus of New York is located in the Financial District in the south of Manhattan, where the university was founded. This campus, composed of several buildings is thus located at some steps of several important places of Manhattan among which Wall Street, the World Trade Center or Chinatown. The entire surface of the campus of Manhattan rises with 8,8 hectares (950 000 public garden feet).

The principal building, the One Pace Plaza is located directly opposite the town hall, and near the Brooklyn Bridge. It shelters the majority of the classrooms, the administrative offices and an amphitheater of 750 places. The 41 Park Row, another building of the university, corresponded to the general headquarter of the NewYork Times at the 19th century, sheltered today many offices of the university, a library and some classrooms. This building also shelters the laboratory Haskins (250 m ²).

The university also had a stage of the northern tower of the World Trade Center, which was destroyed at the time of the Attentats of September 11th, 2001. This loss (4268 m ²) was compensated by the acquisition of new buildings, in the buildings of 157 William Street, 161 William Street and 163 William Street. These new buildings shelter the Seidenberg School off Computer Science & Information Systems (school of computer sciences.)

Concerning the residence halls, Pace University has residences with the Hotel St George, and in the district of Brooklyn Heights. A shuttle service was thus set up to connect the campus of Manhattan to the residence halls.

Pace university has moreover a college located near the New York University.

Campus of Westchester

Two campuses of the university are located in the Comté of Westchester, the campus of Pleasantville, and the campus of White Plains.

The university established its campus in Pleasantville in 1963. The campus is located on the old property of the former vice-president of the General Foods Corporation . The campus is thus located on the remainders of an old farm. It before is very intended for the environmental research programs, and the old equipment of the farm is used with a program as studies based on the equestrian sports.

The campus of White Plains is located at 30 minutes in the train in the north of the town of New York. It includes/understands the business school ( The Evelyn & Joseph I. Lubin Graduate Center ), as well as the school of right. (Pace University School off Law).

Hudson Valley

The campus of Hudson Valley is located at New Windsor, in the County Orange. The buildings occupy only one surface of 510 square meters (5 500 square feet), near the Stuart international airport, close to the town of Newburgh.

Shanghai ms Accounting Program

Since 2000, Pace University established a Master section off Science (control) in Comptabilité, for the Chinese students with Shanghai, the most populated city China. The buildings are established in the Shanghai University off Finance and Economics , considered like one of the more universities of trade of the country.
