Pabu

Pabu is a common French, located in the department of the Coast-with Armor and the area Brittany.

History

In the beginning, there was the territory of " Tre Biz " the trève of the Point, between Trieux and Frout. Still listed in 1946, the locality of Lizandre toponym which " gives; Lily in Drev " , i.e. court of the treb or tref, in fact Trivis. Trivis was one of the four dîmeries of the parish of Ploumagoar.

In 1711, the inhabitants of the dimery of Trivis address to a petition to Monseigneur the Bishop Count of Tréguier. April 14th, 1747, it became parish branch and took the name of Pabu in the honor of holy Tugdual, its patron saint.

Pabu elected its first municipality on January 29th, 1790. The potters populated the villages of the Pottery and Kerez. Clay was extracted in Kervenou as a Pommerit-the-Viscount. Until 1914, one manufactured there pots, bowls, jugs, ribots, but also of bricks, tiles as well as finials. These finials are still present on the roof of the church.

If Pabu does not have historic buildings protected by the law, one can however announce the following buildings, whose majority are private residences which are not visited:

The church Saint-Tugdual (XVIIIe century), the southern arm as well as the porch going back respectively to 1711 and 1750. The western frontage is of 1762 and the baptismal font of 1747. The pulpit of 1746 disappeared a few years ago.

The castle of Munehorre (built between XVe and the XVIIe century, but certain elements would be even older), its dovecote, its vault, its mill (Milin-rear-Bridge). Its name would come from " Mein Hoer " , which means gold stones as Breton old man.

The manor of Kerhuel (XVIIe altered with XVIIIe and XIXe centuries) or the house of in top was already inhabited in XIIe century; its mill is in ruin and its vault disappeared.

The castle of Runevarec, built on the ruins of an old manor, dates from second half of the XIXe century, today rural college of Restmeur. Its vault is dedicated to saint Loup, guard of the herds. One celebrated the festival of the Loup saint there since 1848; the famous catch one made the fame of it. This festival became the festival of the Breton dance with Guingamp.

The manor of Kerhré carries the dates of 1691,1714 and 1723. The mill of Kerhré was used for to swingle the flax.

The smallholding of Rucaër and its mill with corn, known also under the name of " Milin-rear-carry out ".
